Auto-immune disease
A medical condition in which the body's immune system mistakenly attacks healthy cells and tissues, as if they were foreign invaders like bacteria or viruses.

Normally, the immune system's role is to protect the body from harmful substances, but in autoimmune diseases, it loses the ability to distinguish between "self" and "non-self," leading to an immune response against the body's own cells and tissues. This can result in inflammation, tissue damage, and a wide range of symptoms.
